Child Of My Eyes

Child Of My Eyes is a boss rush with bullet hell influences, where you face the internal duels that flourish after the loss of a loved one.

This game was made in a week for the Spain Game Devs Jam II by a team of 5. It was made using Unity 2019.4.1f1. The theme of the Game Jam was Duel, and the way we aproached it was by taking the Kübler-Ross model and represent each stage from the stages of grief as a boss.

My part in this project was:

  • Design
    • Design the general game concept in collaboration with the rest of the team.
    • Designing the behaviour and attacks of the third boss ("Depression").
  • Programming
    • Implementing the behaviour and attacks of the third boss ("Depression").
    • Creating a smooth level transition system that displays a message after every Boss defeat.
    • Using the Unity Shader Graph tool to make the bosses dissolve with a pixelated effect when they die.
    • Creating an Audio Fade In/Out system for the music tracks in the game.

Child Of My Eyes turned out to be a great success in the context of the game jam, ranking #6 on the Mechanics/Implementation category and #10 in the General category.
